It all started in 1998, when my partner Tim O’Leary and I endeavored to create a new kind of advertising agency. We envisioned a company that would provide both brand strategy and positioning combined with everything needed to efficiently close the sale. As time went on, we recruited a very deep bench of TV and digital experts. Our team is now rich in creative, media, brand planning and analytics talent, spanning traditional direct marketing and brand advertising. Among us are many global agency network refugees who actually love—and prefer—the accountability of our approach.
One of the secrets to our success is that we have always challenged conventional wisdom. The party line in marketing is that direct response and brand advertising are two separate things that should never be in the same room together, let alone in the same agency. We don’t agree. We believe that all marketing messages build the brand, that all brand behaviors are important and that the way a brand sells is key to how it is perceived. We call this approach Transactional Brand Building. We carry it through from DRTV to digital marketing all the way to your e-commerce site. That’s our unique selling proposition.

We’ve also helped build many challenger brands like TaxAct.com and Vonage. And we don’t stop there, we’ve been hired by smart Fortune 500 companies like Humana Healthcare, Microsoft, Kimberly-Clark and Bissell who value our model for launching and marketing products efficiently, while also supporting their hard won brands.
